Work Backwards to Set S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Realistic

Timely

Start by identifying your long-term view and ultimate destination.

Where do you sit currently?

Where do you want to go?

How are you going to get there?

After identifying your long-term goal, begin to work backwards.

If you wish to achieve your long-term goal 10 years from today, establish what you will need to have achieved 5 years from today in order to set yourself on a positive trajectory toward achieving your 10 year goal. Furthermore, determine what you will need to have achieved 2 years from today in order to set yourself on a positive trajectory toward achieving your 5 year goal. Continue shortening this time frame until you reach the present day. By creating and adhering to a present day plan, your long-term goal becomes less daunting and more practical to attain.

By recognizing your personal value, being firm in your unique disposition and framing your perception, you can successfully cultivate an upward trajectory of success and achieve your ambitions.
